GMAC Sports Liability Waiver

For consultations, assessments, and intro sessions: virtual, in-person, Combat Defense (CDS), and Combat Athletes. Scroll inside the box to read.

Effective October 19, 2026 • Version v1.1 2026-10

Please read carefully. This waiver affects your legal rights. By agreeing, you give up certain rights to sue.

You accept this waiver by checking "I have read and agree to the GMAC Sports Liability Waiver" and typing your name on a GMAC Sports form or booking page. "GMAC" means GMAC Sports (Gregory Shepherd, doing business as GMAC Sports), run by Coach Greg Shepherd. "I" means the person agreeing. If the participant is under 18, "I" means the parent or legal guardian agreeing for themselves and on the minor's behalf.

1. Eligibility

  • Adults (18 or older) accept this waiver for themselves.
  • Participants under 18 need a parent or legal guardian to sign and agree on their behalf. By checking "I am the parent/legal guardian and agree to the Terms and Waiver on the minor's behalf" and typing their name, the parent or guardian confirms they have legal authority to agree for the minor and accepts this waiver for themselves and for the minor.
  • Minors train in person only. Virtual sessions, Training Plans, and Coach's Eye video reviews are for adults (18 or older) only.
  • The parent or guardian is the billing and contact party, and a parent, guardian, or designated adult (18 or older) must be present or immediately reachable by phone for every session.

2. What this covers

Any consultation, assessment, trial, or intro session with GMAC, by video or in person. That includes Combat Defense (CDS) and Combat Athletes consultations. Activities may include movement checks, stance and footwork, shadowboxing, bag and pad work, self-defense drills, light partner drills, stretching, and conditioning. Paid coaching is also covered by the GMAC Sports Terms of Service.

3. The risks

Combat sports and self-defense training are physical. Possible injuries include strains, sprains, joint injuries, bruises, cuts, and broken bones; hand, wrist, and foot injuries; falls or collisions with people, equipment, or furniture; head, neck, or eye injuries (for example, from partner drills or pad work); injury from faulty or misused equipment; overexertion, dehydration, dizziness, or fainting; and, in rare cases, heart attack, stroke, or death. Training can also make an existing injury or condition worse.

Video sessions

The Coach isn't in the room. The Coach can't check your space or equipment, physically correct you, see outside the camera, or give first aid, and video can lag or drop. You're responsible for a safe, clear space and your own equipment.

In-person sessions

Follow the Coach's safety instructions and the rules of the facility where we train, wear the gear provided or requested, and speak up right away about any concern.

4. Assumption of risk

I understand these risks, and that other risks may exist. I choose to take part voluntarily and accept all of these risks. If I am agreeing for a minor, I voluntarily allow the minor to take part and accept these risks for myself and on the minor's behalf. I can skip or modify any drill at any time.

5. Release

To the fullest extent the law allows, I (and my heirs and estate) release and agree not to sue GMAC Sports, Coach Greg Shepherd, and their owners, staff, contractors, and agents for any injury, illness, death, property damage, or other loss related to my participation, including losses caused by their ordinary negligence. This release doesn't cover gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct, or anything the law doesn't allow me to waive. If I am agreeing for a minor, I give this release for myself, the minor, and our heirs and estates, to the fullest extent the law allows.

To the extent the law allows, I'll cover GMAC's costs for claims by others that arise from my participation or my training space. If I am agreeing for a minor, this includes claims brought by or on behalf of the minor.

6. Health

  • I'm physically able to take part, or I have clearance from a healthcare provider.
  • Before we start, I'll tell the Coach about any heart condition, high blood pressure, breathing problem, diabetes, seizures, past concussion, recent injury or surgery, pregnancy, or anything else that could affect my safety.
  • I'll stop right away and tell the Coach if I feel pain, dizziness, chest pain, or shortness of breath. In an emergency, call 911.
  • The Coach isn't a medical provider. I won't train under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • If I can't consent myself, I authorize emergency medical treatment. For a minor: I'll share the minor's health information before the first session, and if I can't be reached, I authorize GMAC to call 911 and obtain emergency medical treatment for the minor. I'm responsible for those costs.

7. General

  • Governing law: the State of Maryland; disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Maryland (small claims excepted).
  • If any part can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • Electronic acceptance: checking the box and typing my name is my signature (for a minor, the parent or guardian's typed name). GMAC keeps a timestamped record.
  • Privacy: we use your information only to provide our services. We never sell your personal information.
